Hitomi is an internationally renowned floral artist who has guest-designed throughout North America, England, Japan, Mexico, Taiwan, Hong Kong & Bermuda. She brings her well-travelled knowledge of latest trends from around the world to offer clients the best floral creativity possible. She lends her creative talent to the world of special events with her innovative outlook to design. She is anxious to fill the need for couture concepts, a boutique approach to event work.

Hitomi was inducted into American Institute of Floral Designers in 1986. She was a Silver & Gold Medal winner of Great American Design Competition in 1986 and 1987 respectively. She is one of the most sought after lecturer at museums and botanical gardens across North America. She has performed at Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto), Chicago Botanical Gardens, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens (Nashville), Oakland Art Museum, Dixon Gallery & Gardens (Memphis), Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Minneapolis Art Institute, Legion of Honor Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, New Orleans Museum of Fine Arts, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Honolulu Academy of Fine Arts and The Walters Art Gallery (Baltimore).

As an educator, Hitomi conducts numerous workshops throughout the year in Vancouver as well as in Oklahoma City (Teleflora Education Center). She is a Teleflora Education Specialist and a monthly columnist for FLOWERS& magazine. She is also an accomplished author of 5 books: ‘Earth Man Spirit’, ‘Fundamental Theories of Design’, ‘Design Compendium-Styles & Methods’, ‘ARTFLOR – Advanced Design+Process’ and ‘Creative Edge’.

Hitomi is one of only 5 recipients of AIFD’s coveted ‘Design Influence Award’ (1998) and the 2006 recipient of American Horticultural Society’s ‘Frances Jones Poetker Award’.

Highlights for 2008:
She is already scheduled to do a presentation for Bellagio, Las Vegas; going to Paris for Maison d’Objet Show; another program at Honolulu Academy of Fine Arts; Wallach Lecture for Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts in Boston; Exhibition display representing Canada for Singapore International Garden Show.
