Colin Gilliam, son of Hitomi - who does all of the photography and graphic design for design358, including the book NEOTROPICA; has just launched his website WWW.COLINGILLIAM.COM.  There you will find some new a creative work using images of flowers in wonderful photography as well as a creative new form of art.  He sells prints of all of his work, so please make sure to check it out!

 
AIFD National Symposium, the gathering of all the leaders in the floral industry… what a perfect way to unveil Design358’s new guide - NEOTROPICA.  Put together by Hitomi Gilliam AIFD, Lois Hiranaga AIFD, and Colin Gilliam - Neotropica offers an in-depth look at tropical flowers from Hawaii.  This guide breaks down and introduces over 750 varieties of tropical flowers, foliages, and lei.  Neotropica is a pocket sized guide that is extremely easy to use, and is essential for anyone who deals with or designs with tropical flowers.  The guide was introduced this past week at AIFD National Symposium in Kansas City, MO to an overwhelmingly positive response.  We would like to thank everyone in the industry who contributed in putting it together!   The guide sells for $15.00USD per copy, with multiple and case pricing available.  We will have ordering info on the website shortly, but if you have any other questions or would like to make a large quantity order, please email us at colin@design358.com for more information.

Waiting at the airport in Kansas City to board my flight back home to Vancouver, Canada… I must say that Kansas City this year was a definite success for Design358!  We were so pleased to unveil NEOTROPICA here in KC and got an overwhelmingly positive response!!  Thank you to Eric Tanouye of Greenpoint Nurseries, his brother Alan, Debbie, Tony, and Amanda Alvarez for all their help with the book this week!Apart from the Neotropica Launch, Design358 had a strong showing in KC… Design358 Designer, Kevin Ylvisaker had one of the highlight programs of the week, and Design358 Designers Tony Alvarez, Brooke Raulerson, and Yukari Mitsui all were inducted here in KC as well!!  Everyone was sad not to see Hitomi here, and I will make sure to give her all your ‘hello’s’ that I got while I was here the last few days.. she will be there for sure in Boston!  Look on the website for new information concerning Neotropica and and our Fall 2009 Schedule at the Design358 Center for Professional Education as well!! Colin Gilliam 

The Design358 Center for Professional Floral Education returns this fall after a highly successful Spring 2009 semester.  The school will open the fall semester with its introductory PreFlo course September 2nd through the 4th.  The 3-week intensive ProFlo course will follow, running fro September 9th until the 29th.  We are currently finalizing our course catalogs for the fall, but in the meantime you can still download our course catalog from the previous semester.  Course outlines will remain very much the same, with only the date changing to the above ones.  If you have any further questions, feel free to email us at colin@design358.com or hitomi@hitomi-art.com More information will be coming soon!
